Greg Callaghan: Have you always been a vegan, or did you switch after your work began with Animals Australia?: I chose to stop eating animal products when I became aware at the age of 38 that, despite being an animal lover, I had been supporting animal cruelty all of my adult years by unknowingly purchasing products from factory farms. My years of investigations in slaughterhouses in nine different countries have only reinforced my beliefs.

You were in the police for 20 years. How do the skills you learnt as a police officer help in your current work?
As a police officer I had to deal with incredibly difficult situations on a routine basis, and present the evidence necessary to seek justice for victims. It’s no different in this field as an animal advocate, except that I feel an even greater responsibility, since the victims have no ability to represent themselves.
